Local Gas Prices Fueling Frustration
Friday February 27, 2004
So, the other day I filled my gas tank and nearly gagged, and not because of the fumes. In just a week's time, the price of unleaded regular gas jumped nearly 15 cents at most stations. Even the local Arco stations, typically the lowest priced around San Diego, were charging $2.07 for regular. Just a couple of months ago, gas prices dropped to around $1.80 a gallon. Of course, the oil companies are quick with their excuses, usually blaming it on OPEC or refineries going offline for maintenance. I don't buy it - yet, we end up having to buy it, if you get my drift. Our local Utility Consumers' Action Network (UCAN) has a very helpful fact sheet about gas price myths. Even better, they have a Gas Price Fueltracker showing the best prices for gasoline around San Diego County.
