Weather Permitting? Match Play Championship To Begin Thursday at La Costa
Wednesday February 23, 2005
The world's 64 best golfers (well, minus Ernie Els) came to San Diego to play some golf, but their matches were rained out on Wednesday, the start of the World Golf Championships (Feb. 24-27). So, two-time returning match play champ Tiger Woods had to cool his heels for one more day, with hope that the drenching storms that have hit Southern California have finally passed. Forecasts are favorable, so it looks like this most unique of tournaments will indeed get underway on Thursday, with 32 matches scheduled.
