Padres' Trevor Hoffman Reaches 400 Save Milestone
Saturday May 7, 2005
It couldn't have happened to a better guy: Trevor Hoffman become only the third player in Major League history to reach the 400-save plateau. He joins John Franco (424) and Lee Smith (478) in this elite pitching club - and just maybe into the Hall of Fame. But not only has Hoffman been consistently sublime since he arrived in 1993 (all but 2 saves have come ina Padres uniform) from the Marlins, but he's been the ultimate team professional and leader in the clubhouse and community - never have we heard a selfish peep from Hoffman's mouth. Which is why he's become an icon and fan favorite in San Diego, and why he is also highly respected by his own teammates on the Padres. Read about it here, and more about Trevor Hoffman's 400th save on the Padres website.
