Comic Book Geeks Unite! Comic-Con International 2005 Is This Week

There's a classic Saturday Night Live skit from years back with guest host William Shatner. He's making an appearance at a Star Trek convention and all these Trekkies, dressed to the hilt, are peppering Capt. Kirk, er, Shatner with TV episode questions as if situations were for real. Shatner finally gets so exasperated he screams at them to "Get a life!" to which the Trekkies appear crestfallen. It's a brilliant skit, which brings to mind the enormous popularity of the annual 2005 San Diego Comic-Con International at the San Diego Convention Center, July 14-17. With the way real life is these days, maybe it isn't so bad to indulge in the fantasy of sci-fi, comics and animation every now and then. And if so, Comic-Con is the best place to do so.
