Adopting A Dog: A Follow-Up
Saturday November 5, 2005
A couple of months back, I wrote about my joyful experience adopting a dog, a sweet Lhasa Apso named Mazie. It was a such a great feeling to adopt her, being a special needs dog, after losing our beloved Tibetan Terrier of 15 years, Kerry, last June. As it turns out, little Mazie had more special needs than we were aware of: she had inoperatable cancer that had spread to her liver, spleen and adrenal glands. Poor Mazie's health delcined rapidly - she was in such pain at the end that this past week, my wife and I had to say goodbye to her after only 2-1/2 months. But it was a short period full of joy and happiness and love - and we knew in the end that Mazie had finally found a home full of love and left this earth a happy pup. All dogs go to heaven because we know our Kerry and Mazie are there. If you're considering adopting a shelter or rescue dog, read my article of how we discovered Mazie in my article about Adopting A Dog.
