Rock 'n' Run: The San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, June 4
Saturday June 3, 2006
OK, there are some sure things in life (you know, death and taxes), and for me in particular, one more thing: I can say with some assuredness that I will never, ever, run a marathon in my life. I ran track back in my high school days and I wasn't real keen on running back then, either. So, running a punishing 26 miles is not within the realm of my life goals. But if I were to ever run a marathon, the one I would run is the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (June 4). Why? Because unlike other marathons, this one has live bands performing on stages at every mile along the 26-mile course. Now, that's pretty cool, and the particpants think it's pretty cool. In fact, many marathoners say the R 'n' R Marathon is one of the best-run and most fun marathons around. Hey, it attracts over 20,000 racers, so it must be pretty good. OK, fair disclosure here: my band, Aerodrive, is one of the bands playing along the race course, at mile 22. But it's still a cool event.
