San Diego Is Fifth Worst City for Salary
Tuesday July 11, 2006
OK, we already know that we pay a premium for the "privilege" of living in beautiful San Diego. And certainly the city has so much going for it and is really a wonderful place to live. But you also probably know that it costs a lot to live in this city. How much? Well, Salary.com did a "salary value" index for U.S. cities, and - no surprise - San Diego doesn't fare well salary-wise. In fact, it fared downright terrible - we are the fifth worst city for salaries, behind the usual suspects New York City and San Francisco. Which is a shame - I know we sacrifice pay to live in this climate (the sunshine tax), but the fact that our cost-of-living is so high and salaries so dismal makes this report kinda depressing. I think I'll head to the beach... Salary.com's report on "salary value" cities.
