Open Casting Call Seeks San Diego Talent
Friday September 1, 2006
As befitting the American Dream, anyone these days can be famous. Just ask Paris and her ilk. Or any reality TV schlub. The beauty is that famous doesn't have to equate talent. Isn't America great? But sometimes talent wins out. If you've seen the current movie, "Little Miss Sunshine," starring Steve Carell and Greg Kinnear, the film also features the precocious new talent, Maliah Hudson, all of seven years old. The Vista resident was discovered here by worldwide talent agency ProScout.
ProScout is back in San Diego conducting another open casting call - aspiring actors, models and child stars canline up to show talent scouts their best stuff at free open calls to be held in San Diego on Sept. 6, 7 and 8. Locations vary on each day. For more details about locations and times, etc., visit the ProScout website here.

Thanks for that information. Indeed, almost everybody especially the youth wants the taste of fame and stardom. This opens a big oppotunity for all.
Be careful folks. There are plenty of companies like these that claim to be looking for “talent” when in fact they’re just looking to clean you out. Some place also advertised they were an “agency” looking for talent when I went to the meeting they tried to sell me a $10,000 school before they would sign me. So just be careful.
Please Give me a chance
PRO SCOUT IS A SCAM….
I AM A SUCCESSFUL ACTOR IN SAN DIEGO WHO IS SIGNED WITH 2 AGENCYS, ONE IN SAN DIEGO, ONE IN LA…
I HATE TO SEE YOUNG TALENT PAY FORWARD FOR NOTHING. BECAUSE NO LEGIT AGENCY COSTS A SINGLE PENNY.
YOU PAY THEM A PERCENTAGE OF THE WORK THEY GET YOU. THE ONLY THING THE ACTOR EVER NEEDS TO PAY FOR IS PICTURES AND BEFORE YOU ARE SIGNED WITH AN AGENCY YOU MAY NEED SOME ACTING CLASSES, TO BUILD YOUR RESUME. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO SPEND TO MUCH, JUST ENOUGH TO BUILD AND MAKE YOU CONFIDENT…
SCAMS IN SAN DIEGO:
***A NEW CONCEPT***
(HER NAME IS LISA, AND IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HUGE LAW SUIT ABOUT TO BE SHUVVED IN HER FACE)
PRO SCOUT
TALENT HUNTER
JOHN CASABLANCAS (MTM)
WORLD TALENT
SCOTT COPLAND
HOLLYWOOD TALENT ( CAMIE CARPENTER)
THE LIST WILL GO ON…
ANY ONE WHO ASKS FOR AN UP FRONT FEE. IS A SCAM AND WALK OUT OF THERE OFFICE.
Good Luck To You ALL!
& I hope I see a few of you succeed w/o an unfortunate amount of $$$ withdrawn from you…

Hmmm, If Proscout is such a scam how it is that they discovered Nate Parker, Hilary Rhoda, Garrett Hedlund, Jesse Plemmon, Ryan Carnes and a ton of other really successful people? Maybe someone should ask Nate Parker if proscout is a scam.
Rick,
Any feedback on Jet Set Talent Agency in La Jolla? I did some research on them and couldn’t find anything or anyone that had anything bad to say about the company.
Mike,
Go to http://www.ripoffreport.com and put Proscout in the search field. This list goes on and on of people talking about how they were scammed. I haven’t had any business with this company but based on what I have found doing research, I would be very cautious before doing business with them. I could find any required agent licensing for the company. I think they are the middle man that helps to intro you to the real agents.
Rick is right. No reputable agent or agency takes money up front. Money is only deducted from money you EARN. Also all reputable agents are licensed in CA per the Talent Agency Act. Check on an agent/agency at this state run webstite:

Scott Copeland wanted me to give them $ 5,000. WOW!!! BE CAUTIOUS!!!
hey i know you guys say jhon casablanca (mtm) is a scam but how do you know
Scott Copeland Talent is a scam. He wants a 1500.00 security deposit when you sign with him that he says you will get back but Ive heard nothing but bad things about this guy. dont get sucked in by his charm and comments on how beautiful you are.
mike,
who are any of those people you listed? i’m sure that if a naive kevin costner walked into someplace and paid five grand he could still be just as successful if he went somewhere they didn’t take cash up front. it’s true, you don’t need to pay up front, any place that asks you for cash up front is covering their behinds just in case they fail you. cash up front also lets them sit back and not try that hard because they already made money on you. it’s like what a lawyer does. once you pay, they could give a crap whether you win or lose… if you have a certain look or a talent, you can find an agent that will rep you for free and then your only concern will be whether they are taking too much or not.
I’ve heard that there are good Agents who don’t always charge upfront but,if they don’t “feel it” about you they do that to see if you’re serious. Then there’s the scam agencies that charge everyone and never do a darn thing for you…
Tough to know which is which.
