Well, the painful auditions are over and the top 24 contestants for Season 7 of "American Idol are set. And it appears the audition casting from last summer here in San Diego fared pretty well, as a number of youngsters from the Qualcomm Stadium auditions made it to Hollywood, survived the auditions there, and made the final cut to the Top 24. Those making the final 24 from San Diego are: Carly Smithson, Chikezie Eze, Danny Noriega, David Archuleta, David Hernandez, Garret Haley, and Michael Johns. Of those, Smithson is an actual resident of San Diego (those she originally hails from Dublin, Ireland). From the first impressions, I'd place my bets on David Archuleta or Michael Johns. But who knows? We'll keep track of Carly's progress as the competition goes along - Simon, Randy and Paula seem to like her, but I'm not so sure. Read Carly Smithson's American Idol Profile here.
