Check out the Art Around Adams on Saturday, June 6

Wednesday June 3, 2009
Adams Avenue runs through the San Diego urban neighborhoods of University Heights, Normal Heights and Kensington. And not only is it a vibrant and colorful stretch of local life, it is the main stage for a lot of local celebrations and events like the Adams Avenue Street Fair. On Saturday, June 6, another event, Art Around Adams, celebrates the creative arts that span Adams Avenue and the surrounding neighborhoods.

The 6th annual event is a two-part creative arts celebration happening all day Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., in Normal Heights. The first part is a free art walk merging local artists with the over 65 galleries, boutiques, and other establishments on Adams. A trolley will escort guests along the route.

The second part is the addition of a performing arts festival, happening in the 7,500-person capacity Adams Recreation Center. The Art Around Adams Festival will feature three stages spotlighting the best in San Diego performance, from music to stand-up comedy to blacklight theatre. The Festival costs $15 at the door and is a fundraiser to maintain the activity programs at the Adams Recreation Center.
