It's Fair Time and Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, David Archuleta Give San Diego County Fair an 'American Idol' Flavor

Friday June 12, 2009
"Music Mania" is this year's theme and the 2009 edition of the San Diego County Fair will have a decidedly "American Idol" flavor as Kelly Clarkson, David Cook and David Archuleta are among the Grandstand headliners during the run of the annual event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The fair opens June 12 and runs through July 5 (closed June 15 and 22).

Of course, "American Idol" is probably the only flavor that isn't fattening, as this year is no exception when it comes to fair food indulgence. New this year: deep fried bread pudding, chocolate covered bacon strips, and deep fried cheese curds, whatever that is. The "Music Mania" theme exhibit is a slew of interactive activities and displays, from musical history to musical instruments.

And don't forget the old standbys: the flower show, the crafts and baking competitions, the slice-and-dice merchandisers, the Fun Zone rides, and of course, the barnyard animal exhibits and events.
