Michael Jackson's San Diego Connection: 'Blanket' Born at Grossmont Hospital?

Thursday July 2, 2009
So, the King of Pop is dead and only time will reveal the strange story that was Michael Jackson's final years. And, of course, in the aftermath of his untimely death, a few San Diego connections have surfaced. Most have been somewhat trivial - places Jackson had visited, people who met him, etc. But there is one San Diego County connection that is quite intriguing.

Apparently, Jackson's youngest child, Prince Michael Jackson II, was born at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa. As reported by NBC 7/39, the boy's (nicknamed "Blanket" by his father) birth certificate is recorded at the San Diego County's Assessor/Recorder's office. According to that document, the 7-year-old was born Feb. 21, 2002, and his father is listed as Michael Joseph Jackson, born in Indiana on Aug. 29, 1958.

The name of the mother, believed to be a surrogate, was left blank on the certificate, with other information redacted. Prince Michael gained infamy when he was an infant when father Michael dangled him dangerously over a balcony rail in a German hotel, causing a media uproar. Read about this Michael Jackson news and watch the infamous video on the NBC 7/39 website.

What does it matter to you where he is born? Weird.
