It's a one-stop shop event for everything pet related, and the best thing about the 2011 San Diego Pet Expo is that the proceeds benefit San Diego area animal shelters and rescue groups. The pet expo takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29 & 30 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and offers up pet products and services for dogs, cats, birds, and horses.
Entertainment includes the Birdman and his famous trick birds as well as a performance by Mr. Tyson the skateboarding bulldog, and a Splash Dog competition. The family friendly event also features pet adoption, guest speakers, a petting zoo, animal fashion show, and a parade of pooches.
Admission to the San Diego Pet Expo is $5 for adults (there is also a parking fee). You may bring a 10 pound or larger bag of dry dog or cat food in exchange for two admissions, or you may bring 2 clean towels or 1 blanket for one adult admission.
Hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Sat.; until 5 p.m. on Sun.
