The La Jolla Festival of the Arts is a spectacular two day event of art, food, music, chalk art, and more. The non-profit art festival held annually since 1986 showcases up to 200 of the west's finest artists. The 2011 La Jolla Festival of the Arts takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 18-19 on the UCSD east campus at the corner of Genesee Ave and Regents Rd. Admission price is $10 per person. Parking is free.
The festival features a music stage that features regionally-prominent musicians, celebrity authors and book signing events, a food court, street chalking demonstrations by nationally-recognized artists, community service organizations, and a special events area with a different feature each year. The annual event raises funds on behalf of the Torrey Pines Kiwanis Club to provide sports and recreation opportunities for disabled San Diegans as well as wounded warriors returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The event is becoming the new San Diego home to showcase the amazing, temporary images of chalk on an asphalt canvas. This must-see exhibition is included free with admission to the Festival. Calle Color: a live street chalking exhibition where nationally recognized Madonnari (street painters) create a beautiful street of colors
