Ocean Beach is always a fun neighborhood to visit, especially during one of its annual events. And this weekend, O.B. celebrates one of its long-standing traditions, the Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off. Now celebrating its 32nd year, the event takes place on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Each year, thousands flock to Newport Ave. and surrounding areas the fourth Saturday in June for the live music and entertainment, unique vendors, talented artists, thrilling rides, refreshing beer garden, and much more.
The big attraction, of course, is the annual Chili Cook-Off. The cook-off is held at the grassy area at the foot of Newport (between Santa Monica Ave and Newport). To taste the array of chili samples you may purchase individual taste tickets at the ticket booth (2 servings for $1) or you may purchase a Peoples Choice ticket for a sample of all the teams of chili for the single price of $10.
