San Diego Beer Week 2012 Promotes San Diego's Beer Culture

Festival highlights area's thriving microbreweries

By

San Diego's craft beer scene has been, uh, brewing something special for the last 10 years or so. But the beers produced here locally are no longer flying under the radar. In fact, if it's any indication by the number of award-winning micro-breweries and craft brewers making a name for themselves in the national and international beer scene, then San Diego County has officially come unto its own. In fact, San Diego can now be considered in the same breath as Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.

Building on the success of the first two years of San Diego Beer Week, the San Diego Brewers Guild (SDBG) presents San Diego Beer Week 2012 (SDBW).. The only official San Diego Brewers Guild sanctioned event, San Diego Beer Week will be held November 2-11, 2012. The ten-day festival celebrating local, craft beer will feature beer dinners, festivals, rare bottle tastings, cheese pairings, brewery tours, classes, and more.

The San Diego Brewers Guild Festival at the Port Pavailion on Broadway Pier is the ultimate craft beer gathering and signature kick-off event of San Diego Beer Week, comprised of over 500 individual special events staged throughout San Diego County as part of this celebration in the heart of the craft beer movement.

Showcasing virtually all of San Diego’s breweries and award-winning local beers that have contributed to San Diego becoming known as the leader of the craft beer excitement throughout the United States, the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival will also feature an extraordinary food line up with specialty beer pairings, music and more craft beer related activities.

San Diego, with more than 40 brew houses and a thriving brewing culture, has become a Mecca for craft beer and those who celebrate it.

As the only beer festival sponsored by the San Diego Brewers Guild, San Diego Beer Week prides itself on being brewer-supported. Each year, SDBG hosts the two capstone events (kick off and closing), with the rest of the over 300 events throughout the county being planned and hosted by the breweries themselves.
