Top 6 Best Bets for the Week of March 22-28, 2004

By , About.com Guide

Rod Stewart rocks Cox Arena, and Cirque du Soleil continues its extended run. Here are my Best Bets for the week of March 22-28, 2004.

1. Rod Stewart - March 26

Do ya think he's still sexy? Will he be Rod the rocker or Rod the crooner? Probably both, as the venerable rocker sings both his classics like Maggie May and songs from his two best-selling albums of American pop standards.

2. Cirque du Soleil - through APril 18

The amazing French Canadian circus troupe continues its production of "Varekai" under the Grand Chapiteau at Qualcomm Stadium.

3. Bike Maintenance Class - March 23

R.E.I. is conducting an informative class on basic bike maintenance from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at its store at 5556 Copley Drive in Kearny Mesa. Free.

4. Lecture: Urban Sprawl and Smart Growth - March 24

Listen to a panel discussion at the San Diego Central Library downtown. 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Free.

5. Women's Pro Billiards - March 24-28

See some of the top women billiard players in the second stop of the 2004 tour. Pro-Am is on the 24th. The tournament begins Thursday, March 25, in a double elimination, "bracket-play" format featuring 64 of the world's top professional women players. The final rounds and tournament championship game will be played on Sunday, March 28, and taped for broadcast on ESPN.

6. Ruben Studdard - March 26

It is Ruben, not Clay Aiken, who won last year's American Idol. Not that you would really care, unless you're an Idol fanatic. See if he's got the stuff of longevity or a flash in the pan.
