Hundreds of New Cars, and No Salesmen In Sight

San Diego Auto Show is a great place to check out the latest models of autos.

By , About.com Guide

Other than real estate, the auto industry has probably suffered the most from the deep effects of the ongoing recession. And despite the implosion of General Motors and Chrysler, the auto show industry must soldier on, if not in a contracted state. In any case, if you've never been to an auto show, you don't know what you're missing. And if you're thinking of buying a new car, attending the San Diego International Auto Show (Dec 30, 2010 - Jan 2, 2011) at the San Diego Convention Center is one of the best places to be.

Why, you say? Well, not only can you view, touch, and sit in the newest model years of cars, you can do it all in one location without traveling to dealerships. Better yet, there are no salesmen to pressure you while you're "just looking." Which means you can check out the latest Porsche, Mercedes or Hummer that you have cataloged in your mental wish list without being subject to the imposing stare of a salesman who knows you don't have the means to buy the vehicle. At the same time, you can also check out the Fords, Chevys, Toyotas, Hondas or other more practical cars that you're likely in the market for.

This year's show will highlight hundreds of new-model vehicles, concept cars, exotics, a salute to the Model T, specialty cars, trucks and vans throughout more than 500,000 square feet of displays. Better yet, take one of several models from Ford, Toyota, Kia, General Motors and Jeep for a test drive. And don’t forget Sunday, January 2, 2011 is Mazda Family Day! Children 12-under get in free with a paying adult and there will be fun and activities for kids of all ages as well as giveaways at the Mazda booth.

Featured this year:
Classic & Exotic Vehicle Collections - This year's Show will be adorned with several classic collections of vehicles that will appeal auto enthusiasts. Jake's Classic Motorcars once again will showcase an extraordinary array of exotic vehicles that demonstrate the pinnacle of automotive luxury and style.

Think Blue Eco-Center - The Think Blue Eco-Center is back for the fourth consecutive year and features vehicles and technologies that will lead to a greener tomorrow. The range of vehicles on display showcase the latest in working technologies, including all electric, electric-hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, and alternative fuels.

Ride & Drive - Several automotive manufacturers are returning to the San Diego International Auto Show® with Ride & Drive events. This year's Ride & Drives include:
Ford Built in San Diego Ride & Drive
GM Experience the Drive
Hyundai Ride & Drive Experience
Jeep Rocks & Road Tour
Kia Experience the New Standard Tour
Toyota Drive Center

Cycle & Power Sports Pavilion - The Cycle & Power Sports Pavilion will be located on the main show floor level at the east end of the San Diego Convention Center and will give consumers an area to enjoy exhibits that reflect the unique recreational opportunities that Southern California has to offer.
