As sure as summer approaches and the "June Gloom" sets in, San Diegans know that it's time to head out to the San Diego County Fair. This year the Fair (some of us still refer to it as the "Del Mar" Fair) runs from June 12 through July 5 (closed June 15 & 22), and once again will bring forth a range of fun exhibits, contests, concerts, and attractions sure to satisfy both new and long-time visitors to the fifth largest Fair in North America. This special section is a small taste of what you can expect to encounter at the Fair. The 2009 San Diego County Fair theme, "Music Mania," will celebrate music from marching bands to garage bands, all the way to local celebrities, musicians of all genres and ages.
The San Diego County Fair is the largest annual event in San Diego County drawing over 1.2 million visitors and is one of the largest fairs in the United States for attendance.
Note: The Fair will be closed June 15 & 22.
What's New at the Fair This Year:
The Music Mania Theme ExhibitWhether you enter the San Diego County Fair's Music Experience on the red carpet with the "paparazzi" or getting past the bouncer at the "backstage entrance," there is music to "see" and music to experience.

Eating at the Fair is not about eating healthy. What will be the gotta-eat-it food of the 2009 Fair? Will it be the chocolate-covered bacon strips, or the oatmeal-cookie chicken sandwich? What are the latest deep-fried delectable dishes?
