Continue west and you'll approach a large span, the Cabrillo Bridge, a 1,500-foot bridge that traverses State Route 163 below and connects the El Prado area to Balboa Park's west side recreational and picnic areas. You can walk across the bridge, if you wish.

After you Cabrillo Bridge experience, double back eastbound along El Prado. To your right is the serene Alcazar Gardens, a nice place to sit and chill out. Next to Alcazar Gardens is the unique Mingei International Museum.

Dedicated to furthering the understanding of world folk art, the Mingei International Museum presents dynamic, changing exhibitions of traditional and contemporary folk art, craft, and design in modern, state-of-the-art gallery spaces. Of note are whimsical sculptures, a signature work of Niki De Saint Phalle.
