A resident of the OTC in Chula Vista, Sheena Tosta will represent the United States at the Olympics for the second time in her career this summer in Beijing, where she will look to contend for a medal in the women's 400m hurdles. In Athens four years ago, Tosta placed fourth in the event. No American woman has ever won a gold medal in this event. The last American medalists were Kim Batten and Tonja Buford-Bailey, who won silver and bronze, respectively, in 1996.

Moriah Van Norman's first major international appearance with the women's national team came at the 2005 World Championships, where the team captured silver. Two years later, in the 2007 World Championships title game against Australia, she scored her most memorable goal. Toward the end of the first quarter in a scoreless game, van Norman scored from the strong-side wing on a 6-on-5. A swimmer from her early youth, Van Norman took up water polo at co-ed Catholic school, University of San Diego High School Notable alumni at "Uni" are golfer Phil Mickelson and film director Cameron Crowe.

Tim Wadlow returns for his second Olympics as skipper of the 49er class, hoping to improve upon a fifth place finish four years ago in Athens. He and his crew, Chris Rast, have sailed well in the past year. Early in 2008 they placed fifth a Worlds, building off a strong 2007 season during which the two placed fourth at the Miami Olympic Class Regatta and second at the 49er North American Championships.

Ian Waltz will represent the United States at the Olympics for the second time in his career this summer in Beijing, where he hopes to contend for a medal in the men's discus. At the Athens Games in 2004, Waltz finished 22nd in qualifying with a throw of 193 feet, 5 inches. An American thrower has not won an Olympic medal since 1984 when Mac Wilkins took silver and John Powell got bronze.

Marvell Wynne played two years of collegiate soccer at UCLA, earning All-American honors in 2005. Seeing great potential in his combination of athleticism and daring, the New York Metrostars (now, Red Bulls) selected Wynne with the first overall pick of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. Fellow 2008 Olympians Sacha Kljestan (5th), Dax McCarty (6th), Patrick Ianni (8th) and Nathan Sturgis (12th) also were in the 2006 draft. When Wynne was born, his father, Marvell, was plying his trade for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. Marvell Wynne Sr. played in center field for three major league teams over nine seasons.
Rami Zur - Kayak

In Athens four years ago, OTC resident Rami Zur missed his chance to compete in the K-1 500m finals by less than one tenth of a second, finishing fourth in the semifinals. In the K-2 1000m, he raced with Polish born Bartosz Wolski, but they were eliminated in the semifinals as well. In 2000, Zur competed for Israel in the K-2 500m and the K-2 1000m with teammate Roei Yellin, and made it to the semifinals in both. In 2007, Zur ranked seventh in the world after competing in all three World Cup events, and placed first in the K-1 500m at the U.S. team trials.
