July means the weather in San Diego heats up as we enter the middle of summer. It's vacation time for many, and whether you're staying in town or visitng from elsewhere, there is lots to do around and about San Diego. Here are a few suggestions to check out in July.

July 16 - Fun Run

July 23 - Chocolate Presentation

July 23 - Lecture: Rare Fruit Trees

Learn all about watering, fertilizing, soil conditioning, and soil ph when California Rare Fruit Growers host ongoing "Rare Fruit Introductory Class" in room 104. Classes offer opportunity to learn to grow fruit varieties including jujube, capulin cherry, raisin tree, pitahaya, longan, jaboticaba, tropical guava, passion fruit, wax jambu, ice cream bean. 619-261-3610. July 24 - Etch-A-Sketch Exhibit

August exhibit in Geisel Library (lower level, west wing) focuses on this 1960s toy. Stop by UCSD Arts Library starting on July 24 to borrow an Etch-A-Sketch; create a sketch on the toy and it will be placed in exhibit case. July 24 to 27 - Comic-Con 2008

The 39th annual event includes exhibit area with comic books, original art, toys, games, trading cards, clothing, movie memorabilia; programming, anime, films, gaming, parties, lectures.

July 24 - Storytime: Mad Science

July 25 - Film: Elvira: Mistress of the Dark

Celebrate 20th anniversary with screening and show — hostess Peaches Christ introduces the "legendary horror hostess" Elvira. Film will be shown in 35mm from "only known original print in existence." July 26 - Snorkel with Sharks
