July means the weather in San Diego heats up as we enter the middle of summer. It's vacation time for many, and whether you're staying in town or visitng from elsewhere, there is lots to do around and about San Diego. Here are a few suggestions to check out in July.

July 1 - Exhibit: Rare Books

July 1 - Book Signing: Jim Malusa

July 2 - Nature Walk: Mission Trails

Experience joys of June bloom during trail guide-led nature walks amid flora and fauna. Mission Trails Regional Park, One Father Junípero Serra Trail, San Carlos, CA 92119. 619-688-3281. Free.

July 2 - Wood Craft Demonstration

Patrick Edwards, the master in question, demonstrates techniques, discusses development of this craft from Renaissance through Industrial Revolution. July 2 - Free Film: San Diego Public Library

SaveAfricaNow and San Diego Public Library host screening of film examining ways "ordinary people can make a difference in the lives of children left orphaned as a result of the world AIDS crisis." Downtown Library, 820 E Street, San Diego, CA 92101, 619-236-5800. Free.

July 2 - Free Film: Napoleon Dynamite

July 2 - Astronomy Presentation: Supernovae, Neutron Stars, and Black Holes

July 3 - TNT (Thursday Night Thing): Museum of Contemporary Art

This month's TNT promises talk by Cerca Series artist Nina Katchadourian, who will discuss her work and art practice. "Participate in an identity-flipping performance activity inspired by Katchadourian's disorienting Zoo installation." Music by Doctor Bird, My Pet Saddle, DJs.
